Keeping the Faith - Film for the 7th of November

Have you heard the story of the Rabbi and the Priest who come into the bar.......? Well, that would be the start of many jokes, and I guess this film uses this premise. However, it turns out that this is primarily a love story, though with comedic overtones.

Film for May 30th - Orchestra Seats (Fauteuils d'orchestre)

(From the New York times review) The film opens once upon a time with an old woman’s trembling reminiscence wafting across sweeping images of Paris as touristic and familiar as they are blissful and true. “I always loved luxury,” she tells her granddaughter, Jessica (Cécile de France), but the closest she ever came to it was working at the Ritz Hotel. Jessica eagerly follows her grandmother’s lead: she goes to Paris, lands a waitressing job at an Avenue Montaigne cafe and promptly presses her nose against the glamorous, creative bustle around her. Like us, she is only a visitor to this exclusive realm filled with wondrous talent and expensive habits, a realm that — much like Paris itself — is alive with its own mythologies.

When Harry Met Sally - the Number 1 romantic comedy! Movie for the 29th of February

It was the Autumn of '89. I was in Boston at the time, and had some time to kill, so I thought that I would check out a movie. In the papers at the time, there had been columns about "Can a Man and a Woman truly be 'just friends'?" - this provoked some interesting feedback. Well, the movie was good, very good. It has my vote as the 'King' (or is it Queen?) of Romantic Comedys. Sharp witty dialogue. (Why can't they have script writers like that today?). So, come, enjoy, laugh!
